The EarthRoamer Story, Captured by Hiball Energy

Introducing the 2017 XV-LTS

EarthRoamer is proud of our commitment to building the most capable, luxurious, and leading edge overland vehicles in the world. Once again, we are pushing the envelope of innovation with the release of our new 2017 XV-LTS. This newest edition of the best-selling XV-LT line is built on the fully redesigned Ford F-550 and features a host of new upgrades from both Ford and EarthRoamer.

What’s New from Ford?

The 2017 XV-LTS is loaded with new features. Starting with the biggest upgrade, Ford has completely redesigned its Super Duty truck line for 2017. Taking cues from the best-selling F-150, the new Super Duty is constructed with a high-strength, military grade, aluminum alloy body. Accompanying the new body is an all-new high-strength steel frame. Together, the new body and frame reduce overall weight while increasing strength and rigidity. Other improvements include a powertrain delivering 330 horsepower and 750 foot pounds of torque to the tires, an upgraded driveline that supports a higher maximum Gross Combination Weight Rating and larger, more powerful brakes.

EarthRoamer Upgrades

Not to be outdone, we added an array of EarthRoamer designed upgrades to the 2017 XV-LTS. Inspired by the angular lines of the New Ford chassis, our completely redone front-end includes a new bumper with an integrated 40” curved LED light bar, a more powerful off-road lighting package and fresh fender flares. Along with the revamped front-end, a sleek EarthRoamer gauge cluster and control panel fit seamlessly into the redesigned center console of the 2017 F-550.

Welcome to EarthRoamer

Welcome to EarthRoamer — the global leader in expedition vehicle engineering, design, and manufacturing. Since 1998, EarthRoamer has been redefining luxury camping and overland travel with its solar powered four wheel drive Xpedition Vehicles. EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicles (XVs) offer capability, comfort, quality and convenience unmatched by typical Recreational Vehicle (RVs). An EarthRoamer XV is a compact, energy efficient, solar powered luxury home, built on a massive four-wheel drive Ford truck chassis (F-550 or F-750), and powered by a quiet, efficient and powerful turbo diesel engine.

EarthRoamer XVs are unlike any other vehicle on the market. Unlike conventional RVs that depend on noisy generators and campground electrical connections for power, EarthRoamer XVs use massive solar panel arrays, engine driven alternators and huge battery banks to provide quiet and environmentally responsible power. All EarthRoamer XVs feature lightweight, one-piece molded composite bodies which are unmatched in their styling, strength and durability. EarthRoamer XVs are the go anywhere, do anything answer for people who want to travel on their own terms and seek their own adventures —all without sacrificing any of the comforts of home.

We encourage you to compare the value of an EarthRoamer XV to traditional RVs or other expedition vehicles. There is simply no other choice that provides the quality, durability and convenience of operation. Please explore our site and get in touch with us if you would like to join the EarthRoamer Family and start living your dream!

Live Your Dream!

In 1998, EarthRoamer founder Bill Swails began building the very first EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicle in his driveway in Littleton Colorado. One of Bill’s passions is wildlife and landscape photography, and it was his dream to be able to travel to remote locations where he could photograph the raw wildness and beauty of unspoiled nature. Bill soon discovered that there were many others like him with the desire to travel and camp in comfort far away from RV parks cluttered with campers, but there weren’t any vehicles truly designed and built to be driven to remote locations and keep their inhabitants comfortable for extended periods of time.

Thus began a new career and a new dream — to build the world’s best expedition vehicles. Like Bill, many EarthRoamer owners have a passion for natural and wild places and many are photographers, writers, fisherman, cyclists, motorcyclists, boaters, pilots, off-road enthusiasts, and hunters. The list of EarthRoamer owner’s passions is endless, but the one thing they all have in common is a youthful lust for life and an insatiable appetite for adventure. EarthRoamer owners range in age from their 30’s to their 80’s, and you won’t find them sitting on a couch living life vicariously through a TV show — they are out living their dream, exploring the world, and creating their own real life adventures in their EarthRoamer XVs!

EarthRoamer is Freedom

Owners of EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicles have the freedom to travel, camp and explore on their own terms. Gone is the expense and hassle of airline travel and onerous TSA policies. Gone are the hassles of preplanning where you will stay each night and making expensive hotel reservations. Do you want to bring your pets, eat your food, and sleep in your own comfortable bed each night? – no problem when you travel in an EarthRoamer. Don’t pass the world by at 30,000 feet, with an EarthRoamer you will be immersing yourself in local cultures and exploring unspoiled wilderness at your own pace.

Unlike conventional RVs, EarthRoamer XVs are equipped with all of the capabilities and support systems necessary to travel confidently and comfortably to remote areas in all weather conditions for extended periods of time. EarthRoamer XVs eliminate the dependence on external electrical, water and sewer hookups like typical RVs. Many of the most incredible places to visit in the U.S. and throughout the world simply aren’t anywhere near a hotel and are inaccessible to traditional RVs. With an EarthRoamer, there is no need to find an RV park, simply takel your XV off-road and enjoy the luxury of your own well-appointed home.

EarthRoamer owners rely on their vehicles in harsh environments so we build them to last. We use the highest quality materials, hardware and components available. We are confident in the quality of our vehicles and provide a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty on our XV conversion we do to the Ford truck. In addition, Ford provides a 3 year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty on the base F-550 and a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty on the engine, so you can have complete peace of mind while your getting off the beaten path and enjoying your newfound freedom.

With 253 million of acres of public BLM land, 193 million acres of National Forrest land, 6,624 state parks and 58 national parks in the United States containing thousands of beautiful remote campsites, you could easily spend a lifetime of adventure without ever leaving the U.S. For more adventurous travelers, the world becomes your backyard with an EarthRoamer.

EarthRoamer is Adventure

EarthRoamer has been building and rigorously testing expedition vehicles since 1998 and our Xpedition Vehicles are put to the test all over the world. An EarthRoamer XV is a true global expedition vehicle. Many EarthRoamer owners are seeking adventures beyond the borders of the U.S. and have traveled hundreds of thousands of miles over every type of terrain imaginable, throughout Iceland, Europe, Russia, Mongolia, Japan, Australia, Mexico and Central America.

homepage-3One couple actually drove their EarthRoamer XV-LT completely around the world, and current owners are planning trips to Africa and South America which will leave Antarctica as the only continent that has not been explored with an EarthRoamer! Other companies claim to build global expedition vehicles, but the reality is that more EarthRoamers have traveled outside of the U.S. than most of our competitors have built.

EarthRoamer is Family

When you buy an EarthRoamer you become part of a growing family of EarthRoamer owners and employees who share a love of adventure and a passion for exploring. In fact, there are over 170 XVs on the road today! One of the major advantages of EarthRoamer ownership is the opportunity to meet other likeminded EarthRoamer XV owners to travel and explore together.

The EarthRoamer family is comprised of many different members and each one brings a different perspective and viewpoint. Whether its our employees who know everything there is to know about engineering, design, manufacturing, and everything in between or our owners who come from a vast array of backgrounds, the one thing that bonds our family is a love of adventure.

Each year, we host EarthRoamer Adventures and our Annual EarthRoamer Owner’s Rally where groups of EarthRoamer XV owners and EarthRoamer employees gather together to explore remote parts of the western U.S., Mexico and Canada. These events are the perfect opportunity to meet other EarthRoamer XV owners as well as to meet and get to know EarthRoamer employees better. Many lasting friendships have been formed at EarthRoamer Adventures and Rallies, and many adventures have been shared through those friendships.
