EarthRoamer Leadership

Bill Swails

Founder and CEO

Bill Swails founded EarthRoamer in 1998 as a business focused on adventure travel, writing, and photography. At that time Bill was driving a custom expedition camper he built in his driveway to explore, travel and camp in remote locations. In 2002 it became clear that people were more interested in Bill’s custom camper than his photography and writing, so Bill designed the EarthRoamer XV-LT and started manufacturing Xpedition Vehicles. Bill has held every position at EarthRoamer, but his favorite “jobs” are designing vehicles and sharing adventures with EarthRoamer owners.

Bill received his BS in Systems Engineering from Ohio State University in 1985, and his MBA from UCLA in 1995. Bill has twenty six years of experience in engineering management, consulting, marketing, operations, design, writing and photography for a diverse group of companies including McDonnell Douglas (Aerospace), American Management Systems (Consulting), Qwest Communications (Telecom) and EarthRoamer (Xpedition Vehicle Design, Production, Marketing and Sales).

Curtis DesEnfants

Director of Production

Curtis came to EarthRoamer early in 2008 from a background of building police and emergency vehicles and a brief stint as a RV repair technician. He was not impressed with the build quality in the RV marketplace, and was thrilled to work for a company that strived for the next level of quality. He quickly earned the respect of his peers as an expert in the electronics field, and was one of the primary designers of the electrical system used in the current EarthRoamer. He was promoted to Production Coordinator in 2015, and to Production Director late 2016.

Curtis learned the value of hard work growing up on his parent’s cattle ranch in southeastern Wyoming. He left the rural lifestyle in 2001, and has been in the Denver metro area ever since. He married his wife Stephanie in 2006, and they have 2 children, Joey and Sophie. He enjoys golf, slow-pitch softball and camping with his family and friends.

Annie Stein

Director of Sales and Marketing

Annie saw her first EarthRoamer in 2007 while living the “Van Life” in her own custom rig, and was immediately enthralled. She has crisscrossed the American West in various camper setups and has a deep appreciation for the EarthRoamer lifestyle. She joined the company in early 2013 and was quickly promoted to Director of Sales & Marketing in 2014. Annie handles both new and preowned sales. She works with all new customers from initial inquiry through the build process, often assisting with options and interior design. On the marketing side, she manages things like trade shows, social media, owner’s rallies, media inquiries, and branding.

Annie grew up on a farm in Virginia and later moved to Florida, where she graduated with Honors from the University of Florida. Her love of rock climbing brought her out west in 2006 and after several years of roaming the country, she now calls Colorado home.
