EarthRoamer is managed by Bill Swails – Founder & CEO and Tyler Tatro – President & COO. With their passion for excellence, Bill and Tyler are committed to meeting the needs of the people who purchase EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicles. This “lean and mean” management team has a diverse skill set that enables them to make decisions quickly and efficiently and be the market leader with innovative designs and implementation of new technologies.
Bill Swails – Founder & CEO
Bill Swails founded EarthRoamer in 1998 as a business focused on adventure travel, writing, and photography. At that time Bill was driving a custom expedition camper he built in his driveway to explore, travel and camp in remote locations. In 2002 it became clear that people were more interested in Bill’s custom camper than his photography and writing, so Bill designed the EarthRoamer XV-LT and started manufacturing Xpedition Vehicles. Bill has held every position at EarthRoamer, but his favorite “jobs” are designing vehicles and sharing adventures with EarthRoamer owners.
Bill received his BS in Systems Engineering from Ohio State University in 1985, and his MBA from UCLA in 1995. Bill has twenty six years of experience in engineering management, consulting, marketing, operations, design, writing and photography for a diverse group of companies including McDonnell Douglas (Aerospace), American Management Systems (Consulting), Qwest Communications (Telecom) and EarthRoamer (Xpedition Vehicle Design, Production, Marketing and Sales).
Tyler Tatro is EarthRoamer’s President, COO and part owner. Tyler was named President and COO in January 2014, and is responsible for all operations of the business. He currently oversees design, engineering, production, sales, service, marketing, purchasing and accounting. He is heavily involved in design of the XV-LT and XV-HD product lines.
Tyler joined EarthRoamer in 2007 as a member of the XV-LT build team. Since then, Tyler has held most positions in the company and has excelled at everything from sales and marketing to design and production management and is the brains behind many of the business, operating and accounting systems in use at EarthRoamer today.
Tyler received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from The University of Colorado.
Annie Stein – Director of Sales & Marketing
Annie first discovered EarthRoamer while camping in Utah in 2007 and has been an advocate of the “Live Your Dream” philosophy ever since. She has crisscrossed the American West in various custom camper setups and has a deep appreciation for the EarthRoamer lifestyle. She joined the company in early 2013 as the Office Manager but quickly took on a wider array of tasks including marketing and sales. She was promoted to Director of Sales & Marketing in 2014 and takes great pride in providing an exceptional customer experience to new and existing members of the EarthRoamer family. Or as she calls it, the ER Tribe.
Annie grew up on a farm in Virginia and later moved to Florida, where she graduated with Honors from the University of Florida. Her love of rock climbing brought her out west in 2006 and after several years of roaming the country, she now calls Colorado home.
Spencer Park – Service Manager
Spencer came to EarthRoamer in 2012 as a Production Technician but quickly moved into the service department, and was promoted to Service Manager in 2013. His degree in Automotive Technology and background working for Ferrari ingrained in him a thorough understanding of what “luxury” means in a vehicle. Spencer’s attention to detail, depth of knowledge and genuine care for our customers combine to provide the highest standards for service.
Spencer grew up in the Pacific Northwest. An avid outdoorsman, he moved to Colorado in 2012 so he could enjoy the mountains and sunshine. When he’s not at the EarthRoamer shop, you might find him camping in the back country or out riding dirt bikes. He lives in Superior with his wife Roxanne and their 7 year old Boxer Molly.
